Research & Innovation Center coming to Wyoming High School
MEETING TONIGHT (3/11) – 6:30 PM – HIGH SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER
Wyoming High School is collaborating with community leaders to renovate and expand the current media center. This Innovation Research Center will be a space that supports STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Arts, and Mathematics) – a culture of learning and encouraging students to be innovators, critical thinkers, research experts, and creators of solutions.
The STREAM Innovation Research Center will provide a platform for a new capstone curriculum that will be offered to all Wyoming High School students and will be a model for high schools throughout the country as a place where students can build the future. Wyoming High School students excel in academics, arts, and athletics and this space and curriculum will give them access to the tools of innovation.
Wyoming City School District is working with the Wyoming School Foundation to privately fund this project. No tax money will be used.
If you’d like to learn more about the space and the enhanced curriculum that it will support, join Assistant to the Superintendent Dr. Ashley Whitely and Wyoming High School teachers at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, in the Wyoming High School media center.
The Foundation has raised $997,000 toward their goal of $1,250,000 for this project. If you’d like to financially contribute to this project, please contact the Wyoming School Foundation at 513-821-6909 or office@wyomingschoolfoundation.org.

7TH GRADE COURAGE RETREAT
Dear Parents,
Wyoming Middle School is excited about the upcoming 7th grade Courage Retreat that will be facilitated by Youth Frontiers, Inc.!
On the Courage retreat, the YF Retreat Staff will focus on creating a more positive school community by engaging students in a variety of activities that enhance self-confidence, empathy, and connectedness. This high-energy, interactive retreat is scheduled for Wednesday March 13, 2019 for the 7th grade class and will be held at the Wyoming Civic Center.
An important part of the Courage Retreat is the small group discussions that occur throughout the day. We are pleased that these small groups will be led by 11th graders from Wyoming High School. We believe it will be a wonderful thing to have Our 7th graders connecting with the high school students in this way. These group leaders have been carefully chosen.
Please visit youthfrontiers.org/courage-retreat for more information on YF, to access great parent resources, and to watch a video about the Courage Retreat. If you have questions about the retreat, please contact the guidance office at 206-7225.
Sincerely,
WMS Guidance

WHS and Wyoming Alcohol Task Force hosting events on the dangers of the binge-drinking and co-ingesting
On Wednesday, March 13, Julie Buckner from the Josh E. Levine Foundation will speak to Wyoming High School students about the foundation’s efforts to change the culture of binge drinking among young people, particularly at the high school and college levels, and the dangers of co-ingesting alcohol and stimulants. Wyoming High School and the Wyoming Alcohol Task Force will be hosting a program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in Wyoming Middle School’s Fay Auditorium for all Wyoming High School and 7th/8th grade parents and guardians who would like to learn more about the Foundation and the next day’s assembly.
The Josh E. Levine Foundation partners with peer-to-peer support networks recognizing the connection between binge drinking and mental health. Josh’s mother, Julie, has garnered national media attention and brought her “It’s Fun Until…” presentation to high schools, colleges and other organizations in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Florida. More information about the Josh E. Levine Foundation can be found at http://www.joshelevinefoundation.org/.
From a Cincinnati-area high school student: “Thank you so much for taking time to speak to us and share the story of your son. The way you take your story and use it to change teenage lives is beyond incredible. I love the tagline that you use and will definitely carry the message behind it with me as I go on to college and move on into adulthood.”
We hope you can join us for this informative presentation!
