ATTENTION CLASS OF 2024 FAMILIES

The Class of 2020 would like to show the Class of 2024 some love. Both classes are missing out on special events and ceremonies to mark the successful completion of important chapters in their education. In the spirit of this shared experience, students from the Class of 2020 want to ‘adopt an 8th grader’ and do something special for them as the school year comes to a close. It may be delivery of a letter or card, a poster, or a small gift. Whatever each individual decides to do, social distancing guidelines and safety protocols will be followed!

If you would like to sign up your 8th grader to participate, please submit NAME, ADDRESS, ETC via this LINK: https://forms.gle/b5yXucMQKiDg6XJ67

SIGN UP BY FRIDAY MAY 8TH!
Please note: Participation is completely voluntary. While the administration is supportive of the graduating seniors’ desire to do something for the 8th graders, this is not a school sponsored event. Parents of 8th graders and seniors along with the graduating seniors are coordinating this effort. If you have questions, please reach out to the 8th grade PAC Reps, Melanie Niklewski @ mniklewski@gmail.com or Maria Seyerle @theseyerles@gmail.com

The administration is working on plans to honor the 8th graders since the traditional 8th grade ceremony cannot be held. They will share those plans when finalized.

Thank you!

RISING 9th GRADER SPORT INFORMATION

Hope you are healthy and enjoying the sunshine.

In past years at this time of year each head varsity coach would schedule a face to face meeting with rising 9th graders interested in athletics. The coach would accumulate information to begin communication about team information and schedules. Since we are unable to accumulate that information while meeting face to face, please complete the form at the link below so we can include your son/daughter in important sport-specific communications and information. A link to this form can also be found on our athletic website – http://www.wyomingathletics.org.

As always, please email or call if you have questions. Take care.

Hello Wyoming Middle School Families:

I shared the following with families through SchoolMessenger (our automated email system) this afternoon. If you have not been receiving district emails through SchoolMessenger, please reach out to Director of Communications Suzy Henke at henkes@wyomingcityschools.org for assistance in troubleshooting.

Thank you and be well,
Jennifer Klein
Principal

Dear Wyoming Middle School Families:

Let me begin by saying how much we miss all of our middle school students and families! We are concerned for the wellbeing of our students, as well as their families. None of us has experienced a pandemic before and these four weeks have not been easy. We understand many families are working from home and have several children to assist in their learning and support emotionally.

In order to streamline communication regarding school assignments, we will be sending a weekly, grade-level document to families through our automated email system (SchoolMessenger) each Monday by 8:30 a.m. We will also post the weekly document on the student canvas page. We hope that sharing these materials in a single email at the beginning of each week will allow families to structure their weeks in a personalized way for each household. Our online remote learning will begin on Monday, April 13, with an email to families listing weekly student assignments.

The general structure of the week:

 9-11 a.m. Office Hours (Monday – Friday)

1-3:30 p.m.   Monday

English-Language Arts: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity

1-3:30 p.m. Tuesday

Math: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity

1-3:30 p.m. Wednesday

Science: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity

1-3:30 p.m. Thursday

Social Studies: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity

1-3:30 p.m. Friday

Specials: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity

During Office Hours:
Teachers will be online ready to respond to students through email and CANVAS. The goal during this time is to answer questions and provide immediate feedback and support on the week’s assignments.

During the afternoons:
Teachers will use this time to schedule online real-time engagement and/or lessons to work with students through Zoom or other online virtual meeting tools. To lessen the likelihood of overlapping meetings, these are blocked by subject area.

If you received a school-issued computer and encounter any technical issues, please inform your child’s teacher so they can submit a help ticket to our technology department for support.

For additional questions, contact your child’s teacher and for further assistance, please don’t hesitate to email Mr. Renner or myself.

Stay Healthy!

Hello Wyoming Families,

This is a reminder regarding the use of WCS laptop for Remote Education Plan.   When used at home, internet traffic will not be filtered because the laptop will no longer be on the school’s network.  It is highly advisable to monitor the web activity of children.

We realize you may need technology assistance during remote learning.  Please let your classroom teacher know of any issue you encounter and we will provide assistance (either remotely or by scheduling a time to retrieve the physical devise).

Thank you for your patience as we navigate this new terrain together.

Stay healthy and we hope to see you soon!
