Dear Wyoming Middle School Families:
Let me begin by saying how much we miss all of our middle school students and families! We are concerned for the wellbeing of our students, as well as their families. None of us has experienced a pandemic before and these four weeks have not been easy. We understand many families are working from home and have several children to assist in their learning and support emotionally.
In order to streamline communication regarding school assignments, we will be sending a weekly, grade-level document to families through our automated email system (SchoolMessenger) each Monday by 8:30 a.m. We will also post the weekly document on the student canvas page. We hope that sharing these materials in a single email at the beginning of each week will allow families to structure their weeks in a personalized way for each household. Our online remote learning will begin on Monday, April 13, with an email to families listing weekly student assignments.
The general structure of the week:
9-11 a.m. Office Hours (Monday – Friday)
1-3:30 p.m. Monday
English-Language Arts: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity
1-3:30 p.m. Tuesday
Math: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity
1-3:30 p.m. Wednesday
Science: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity
1-3:30 p.m. Thursday
Social Studies: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity
1-3:30 p.m. Friday
Specials: Teacher Check-In or Optional Instructional Opportunity
During Office Hours:
Teachers will be online ready to respond to students through email and CANVAS. The goal during this time is to answer questions and provide immediate feedback and support on the week’s assignments.
During the afternoons:
Teachers will use this time to schedule online real-time engagement and/or lessons to work with students through Zoom or other online virtual meeting tools. To lessen the likelihood of overlapping meetings, these are blocked by subject area.
If you received a school-issued computer and encounter any technical issues, please inform your child’s teacher so they can submit a help ticket to our technology department for support.
