Application Link for Model UN
Below, you will find the link to the online application to join the WMS Model UN club. Please read the application carefully and be aware that there is an essay requirement this year. You cannot save your work on this application, so if your do not complete it in one sitting, all of your work will be lost. You can view the application ahead of time, in order to know what information you will be asked to provide. Then, come back to it when you have everything prepared and ready to submit. We highly recommend that you draft your essay on a Word doc first, and then copy and paste it into the online application.
For OMUN, teams (country groups) are limited to 6-8 people. The country choices that are available this year are listed on the application.
WMS Model UN Club: Information about club and application process
The WMS Model UN club is a global education/simulation experience for 7th and 8th grade students. Through the process of role-playing, students act as delegates of various nations, in order to write, present, and debate issues affecting the international community.
In order to join, every interested student must complete the online application. The link to the application will be posted here, on the WMS blog, and will be active as of 4:00pm on Friday, September 4th. The deadline to apply is midnight on Sunday, September 20. The application is a lengthy process, including the submission of a 400-word essay, so be sure you give yourself ample time to complete it.
The Ohio Model United Nations (OMUN) conference is in Columbus on March 12-14. The estimated cost for this excursion is $240. For this conference, you will be working with a team and preparing for several months. On the application, you will be asked to identify the students with whom you would like to work and your top 4 country choices, so be sure to discuss this with your group BEFORE you apply. Team sizes this year will be limited to groups of 6 to 8 students. Even if you don’t have a group, you can still apply. The sooner you complete your application, the more likely you are to get your country choice.
This year, our middle school Model UN club will also have the opportunity to attend WYOMUN. This conference is held right here in Wyoming, at the high school on October 29. This will be a one-day conference and the fee is $35.

Attn: All Geocachers!
During second quarter of school (Oct-Jan), we will be teaching an experienceship on geocaching and orienteering to small group of students. There are some geocaches near the middle school that we would be able to find during the 90 minutes we get on Wednesdays to explore. However, most are too far away for us to travel to safely by foot. If you enjoy geocaching and would like to hide/tag a geocache before the end of October, we would love some help adding more. We are trying to keep the students from crossing over Springfield Pike if possible, north of Grove Park and south of Oak park. Thanks so much! If you are an avid geocacher and would like to help a few Wednesdays in Nov/Dec from 1:30-3:00 pm, please contact Stephanie O’Hara at email@example.com. Thanks and happy geocaching!
