Some important dates from Mrs. Ryan:
- Thank you for helping us to have such a great start to our school year! Despite the rainy beginning, the students and staff returned with enthusiasm and positive attitudes!
- Student Drop Off and Pick Up – please remember that the drop off and pick up lines are one way only from 7:30 – 8:30AM and 2:30 – 3:30PM. Try to pull up as far as you can so that the line can keep moving smoothly. Please do not cut through the Board of Education parking lot.
- Picture Day is this Friday.
- Open House for Grades 5 & 6 is next Tuesday, August 23 at 7:00PM
- Open House for Grades 7 & 8 is Tuesday, August 30 at 7:00PM with a 6:30 meeting for 8th grade parents about the Chicago Trip.
- The Fay Auditorium Open House will take place on Sunday, September 11 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
- Mark September 13 on your calendar for a program on Bullying. The students and teachers will be participating in meeting with our presenter, Jim Bisenius. The parent meeting will be held at 7:00pm in Fay Auditorium
Picture Day is this Friday, August 19th at the middle school.
Attention all string parents,
Welcome to a new and exciting year of strings. We are asking that all violin and viola players bring their instruments beginning Wednesday, August 17. Fifth and seventh grade students will store their instruments in Mrs. Denney’s room and sixth and eighth grade students will store their instruments in Mrs. Coomer’s room. All cello and bass players are welcome to use school-owned instruments. There is no reason to transport the instruments back and forth for every music class. If, however, your instrument at home requires tuning or tapes, please know that you can bring it in any day and we will take care of it that same day.
Grades 6-8 music schedule:
Viola, Cello, Bass: M/W/H
All 5th grade students have music on Tuesday and Friday. The third day is determined by their individual teacher (look on schedule)

Homework Place is a quiet, monitored area where students can go to do homework or meet to work on group projects after school. It is available Monday thru Thursday from 3:10-4:30 and is held in the second floor ELA (west side of building). Homework place begins on Monday, August 22nd.
We are in need of 5th and 6th grade parents for lunch and recess duty. This is a great way to get a glimpse into your child’s world during the day! Commitment is one day a month from 11:24 to 12:02 pm. To find out more and sign up please click on this link:
Wyoming PSA LaRosa’s Day – Sunday, August 21st
The first week back to school can always be hectic! Come down to the Village Green Friday, August 19th from 6 – 9PM to enjoy a free outdoor concert featuring “The Touchables.” Refreshments, dinner & dessert options will be available from local vendors. There will be fun activities for the kids. Proceeds from beverage sales will be donated back to the local community. Please come and celebrate back-to-school on the green with the City of Wyoming and Junior Woman’s Club!
Each year the Wyoming PSA hosts an annual Magazine Sale through Wyoming Middle School. This magazine sale is one of the top PSA fundraisers, generating over $30,000.00 for the schools over the last three years. PSA receives 50% from each subscription sold and proceeds help offset the cost of Camp Kern for 6th grade students as well as the 8th grade Chicago trip.
This year’s sale will run from September 1st-22nd. Supporters may renew or purchase subscriptions online before or during the sale by going to www.apmags.com and selecting “I’d like to shop and support a school”. The code for Wyoming is WB3027.
Information About Upcoming Cross Country Season – All 7th and 8th grade boys and girls are eligible for joining the Cross Country team. Practices start on Aug 15. If you are interested please register through Final Forms.

It’s time to sell Chip Wheelies for WSMA! WSMA (Wyoming School Music Association) supports the music programs in our schools from Kindergarten through High School. If you have an hour or two to volunteer, we can use your help. WSMA sells Graeter’s Chip Wheelies at home football games and all the school concerts. These ice cream sandwiches are a huge favorite with the kids (and adults). It’s easy!! We handle the ordering and delivery of Chip Wheelies to a special freezer at the High School. We’ll supply you with signage, a cash box, and instructions. It’s a short time commitment. If you have younger kids who want to attend the football game, you’ll have a good excuse for being there. Attention 8th Grade Art Students! 8th grade = PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY! You will need a box with a removable lid to make your pinhole camera. Please start looking now for your box. The box could be a shoe box, game/puzzle box, etc. It is due on: Monday, 8/29. You will begin making your camera on this day, so it is imperative that you meet this deadline!
Calling All Actors! Auditions for the musical, including cast, student director, and student choreographer, will be held on Tuesday, August 23d and Wednesday, August 24th from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the WMS music rooms.
