The Wyoming Youth Service/After School Program’s last day is this Thursday, May 21.
Wyoming Middle School students and their parents are invited to an information session about the new FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) this evening, May 19th at 7:00 p.m. in the middle school professional development room. FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) introduces young people, ages 9 to 14* (grades 4-8), to the fun and excitement of science and technology while building self-confidence, knowledge, and valuable career and life skills. FLL challenges kids to think like scientists and engineers. Alongside adult Mentors, FLL teams solve problems using engineering concepts, presentation techniques, and LEGO® Mindstorm robots.
Did you know Wyoming Youth Services offers a FREE Summer Program for Wyoming residents who will be entering 5th-8th grades in the fall. Snacks & drinks provided daily and we enjoy pizza on outing days. Meet at the Oak Gym each day except for Thursdays when we meet at the Wyoming Family Aquatic Center to swim.
We have themes for each day of the week. Public Art Mondays are where you can create and display art pieces on popular topics and then check back and see how the public has reacted to our work. Try A Sport Tuesdays are your chance to try out a new sport with local area coaches. Give Back Wednesdays is your chance to volunteer and let the community know that kids can make a difference in our community. Required Vaccine for Students Entering Seventh Grade: Current Ohio Department of Health requirements state that all students entering 7th grade must receive a dose of Tdap vaccine. The Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis) vaccine is important to protect children against pertussis, commonly known as whooping-cough. Under Ohio law, schools are required to have written documentation from a student’s health care provider of the date that the Tdap was given. Students will be excluded from school if documentation of this vaccine is not provided prior to entering their 7th grade year. Please provide documentation of your child’s Tdap vaccine prior to the end of the school year. If you are unsure if you have already provided the correct documentation, please call the school nurse to verify your child has received his/her Tdap vaccine.

Parents, please mark your calendar to attend the end-of-year PSA Annual Meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. New location! Join us at the Administrative Center/Board of Education office at 420 Springfield Pike (not the Pendery Lobby printed on the school calendar). Social time with refreshments provided by PSA’s High School Hospitality team will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the meeting to follow at 9:30 a.m. Outgoing PSA President Laura Bence will recap the year and install next year’s PSA Executive Board, and Wyoming City Schools Superintendent Dr. Sue Lang will speak. Cincinnati State is offering three free credit hours as part of their “3 and A Book” for qualified high school students and rising 9thgraders. Interested students need to submit their high school transcripts or 8thgrade report card and fill out an application atwww.cincinnatistate.edu/summer.
