Announcements 2/24/14

High School Musical Info:  Into the Woods, the high school musical this year, will take place next Thursday, Friday & Saturday (Feb. 27, 28 & March 1).  Please note that this is a change from what is stated on the District calendar.



Auditions will be held for the 2014 Variety show on Wednesday, April 9th and Thursday, April 10th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in Pendery Theater. The 4-4:30 slots on BOTH days will be for 8th Graders who want to audition for the EMCEE parts ONLY. Sign-ups will go up in the mirrored hallway next to the auditorium on Wednesday, March 26th before spring break. 8th graders who want to EMCEE and be in an act will be able to audition for both. Everyone else will be limited to one act. The theme this year is simply “ROCK AND ROLL!” However, the acts do not need to follow this theme. Only acts that are completely prepared and rehearsed will be considered for the show.  Please keep your act under 4 minutes. Due to many of us needing the Pendery space, a rehearsal schedule will be posted later.  For now, please start prepping your acts, and we will see you on the 9th and 10th!

Attention 6th Grade Students:  There is an optional meeting with elective teachers for 6th grade students today, February 24th right after school.

Make It Happen will meet after school today in the art room.

7th & 8th Grade Model UN Students:  Final payment and permission slips are due this week.  Check Blackboard for more details and reminders about the final preparations for our trip to Columbus.

Attention All Students:  Yearbooks will be on sale for $30.00 until tomorrow, February 25th.  After February 25th yearbook orders will no longer  be accepted.  Place your order today at


Attention Parents:  Please make sure your student(s) dresses weather appropriate for school.  Students will go outside for recess if the weather is above 20 degrees.

Attention 5th and 6th grade Parents: Please go to the following link if your son or daughter might be interested in a math competition:

 Grade 8 Parent Course Selection Meeting: This meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 4th at 7:00 p.m. in the high school cafeteria.  Course option sheets are due on Tuesday, March 11th.

8th Grade Parents:  

The Wyoming City School District has developed a credit flexibility plan that will enable students to earn high school credit by: a) completing coursework, b) testing out of or demonstrating mastery of course content, c) pursuing one or more educational options in accordance with the District’s Credit Flexibility plan, or d) any combination of the above.

Students choosing to take advantage of this opportunity must complete the Wyoming High School Credit Flexibility Application and submit it to the High School Guidance Office no later than March 13, 2014.  Applications are available on the High School website. 

To access the application go to, click on High School and then on Guidance/College Counseling.  All applicants will receive notification of approval within ten calendar days in order to accommodate appropriate schedule changes. Any student who applies after March 13 will not be eligible for the credit flexibility option during the 2014-2015 school year.

Please note that this plan and application process also applies to summer physical education classes. Therefore, if you wish your child to take physical education during the summer, the above-mentioned application must be completed no later than March 13th.

Templates for the most requested Credit Flex classes are available online and in the High School and Middle Schools Guidance Offices:  Lakota and CCD summer PE and online Health (Brigham Young University HLTH041).  Parents are responsible for researching the costs and dates of the classes.
