Shopping Day to Benefit Our Music Programs

This Sunday, November 10, from 12 noon – 5 p.m., Wyoming Schools Music Association is sponsoring a great opportunity to raise money for our music programs.  We’ve partnered with the nonprofit, fair-trade gift store, Ten Thousand Villages, located in O’Bryonville, 2011 Madison Rd., Cincinnati, 45208. If you shop on November 10, they will donate 15% of their proceeds to WSMA.  All you have to do is download and present the attached coupon:  WSMA Shopping Day Blog.    The Ten Thousand Villages store carries a beautiful selection of handmade gifts and food items produced by struggling artisans from around the world. It’s a win-win!! If you need more information, please contact Barb Smucker at barbsmucker@hotmail.com. Hope to see you there.

STUDENTS

This week during lunch, middle school and high school will have the opportunity to have their photo taken in the JR-inspired photo booth.  Early in October, Art Elective students had the opportunity to visit the Contemporary Arts Center to see the JR exhibit.  JR is a French artist/photographer/urban activist, 2011 TED prize recipient, whose work is currently on display at the CAC now through February 2014.  In the spirit of JR’s style, a selection of these images will be combined into a collaborative middle school/high school piece that will be on display later this month!

PARENTS

Dear 6th Grade Families,

In preparation for next week’s Camp Kern trip, I wanted to communicate our plan for drop-off and pick-up.  Please see below for further details:

Drop Off

  • If possible, please drop off your student at 8:30 a.m. instead of the normal time.
  • Bolton/Sanders/McGlynn homerooms will drop off in the typical location in the Senior Lot.
  • Kunkel Stephens/Hayner homerooms will drop off in the gravel staff lot off of Burns Ave.
  • If a family carpools with another family from the opposite drop-off area, please use the Senior Lot drop-off area.

We understand if families must drop off at the normal time due to work and other commitments.  If you must drop off at our normal time, please use the gravel staff lot.  After dropping off his/her luggage, the student will go to homeroom as normal.

Pick Up

  • Pick-up will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday 11/15/2013.
  • Please do not arrive before 12:00 as we need to be sure we have space for the buses to enter school property.
    • All students must be picked up by 12:30 to ensure that the lots are clear for WHS Seniors to re-enter school property.
  • Parents should pick in the same location they dropped-off.
  • Students will not eat lunch at Camp Kern on Friday as previously planned.
    • The funds saved will be used for the 6th grade end of year party at the Wyoming Recreation Department.

Thank you for your continued support and flexibility,

Mike Overbey
Principal

From the Nurse:

Good News Parents!  There is a new, easy way to access all Wyoming sports information and needed forms, like the OHSAA sports physical and the EMF (emergency medical information form).  The coach needs the EMF and the sports physical is kept in the Nurse’s Office at the MS level.

To access the Wyoming Athletics site go to the district web site; in the left side bar click on “Athletics”.  This takes you to the district Athletics home page.  The bottom left has a “Resource” section which contains the EMF and the OHSAA sports physical.  There are 6 pages to the sports physical this year.  A parent and the student must complete and sign pages 1,5,6 prior to getting the physical.

Light Up Wyoming will be held on Saturday, December 14th, in conjunction with the Wyoming Holiday Open House.  In its 27th year, Light Up Wyoming is a longstanding tradition in our community with the goal of creating an unbroken circle of light to show our Wyoming spirit!  The Junior Woman’s Club of Wyoming, a 501c3 organization, holds Light Up Wyoming as one if its primary fundraisers.  The primary beneficiary for this year’s Light Up Wyoming will be Pets In Need of Greater Cincinnati with the remaining proceeds to be disbursed locally by the Junior Woman’s Club of Wyoming Foundation. Luminary kits are $12 and come with enough supplies to make 20 kits.  Order your kits before Thursday, December 5th for FREE home delivery.  Kits can be purchased through paypal on our website, http://www.jwc-wyoming.org/  In-person sales will run the December 7th & 8th in the High School Tennis Court Lot and December 7th & 14th at the Civic Center prior to the Holiday Open House.  For more information, contact Liz McLean, Light Up Chair, at 761-1398 orElizabeth.McLean@uc.edu.
